Oca Lagoon Biosphere Reserve and Herraduras of Paraguay River

Formosa

Some 6 km away from the centre of Formosa capital, the Oca Lagoon and Herraduras Biosphere Reserve of the Paraguay River is synonymous with rivers, forests, lagoons, marshes, savannahs, grasslands, palm groves and home to an amazing fauna.

Open to visitors all year round. The hottest months are from December to March. In times of floods, the river usually cuts off the access.

What to see
A day in nature

You can visit it for the day, departing from Formosa, to enjoy the beach on the lagoon, practise water activities and attend music events while tasting a delicious tereré. You can take the trails and watch birds and animals such as capybaras or river otters.

How to get there and move around

It is located in the city of Formosa. You can access through 9 de Julio Avenue and Napoleón Uriburu (next to the Amphitheatre). The road to the lagoon begins at the intersection of 9 de Julio and Tomás Espora.

Where to stay

The reserve has a camping site. The lodging and gastronomy offer is varied in the city of Formosa.
