Valle de Tierra Mayor Landscape and Natural Reserve

About 20 km from Ushuaia, you will find this natural reserve, which stands out as one of the top destinations for snow sports in winter. During summer, it is the best place for trekking through valleys and mountains.

What to see
In winter

This area houses several winter sports centres, which from June to September offer multiple activities such as alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, 4-wheelers, snow mobiles and dog sledge rides.

How to get there and move around

You can visit this reserve on guided tours or on your own. To get there, take National Route 3 from Ushuaia, which will lead you to the ski resort and the start of the trails to Esmeralda, Turquesa and Submarino lagoons.

Another option is to get on the regular buses that depart from downtown Ushuaia at scheduled times.

Where to stay

Ushuaia offers a large variety of accommodation options and services. In Cerro Castor ski resort, you will find cottages only available to stay during the winter season.
