Visit a Prehistoric Forest
In western Neuquén you can see the incredible Araucaria araucana forests, with trees that have hardly changed since the time of the dinosaurs and that the Mapuche communities consider sacred. Between lakes and mountains, and at the foot of the Lanín Volcano, these forests create a beautiful landscape that you can explore by car, by bike or on foot. Villa Pehuenia, Caviahue, Junín de los Andes and Aluminé are good places to stay and they offer campsites, cabins and other types of accommodation.
Where: At Lanín National Park (Neuquén) and nearby areas
When: October through April
