Explore one of the planet’s largest salt flats
Sitting more than 3 thousand metres high, Salinas Grandes (a salt desert that spans over 500 square kilometres) awaits you. This is one of the three largest salt flats in the world and you will be able to tour it on a llama, by bike or on foot accompanied by local guides.
Explore a place that millions of years ago was a lake populated by aquatic fauna and flora. Reach the pools where the mineral is extracted. Get handicrafts made of salt at the visitors' centre. And in the rainy season, marvel at the phenomenon that occurs when the water covers the salt flats and forms a turquoise mirror where the Nevado de Chañi, the highest mountain in the Jujuy Andes, is reflected.
Where: At Salinas Grandes, 67 km away from Purmamarca (Jujuy)
When: All year round
