Discover the Patagonian steppe on foot
Put on your trekking boots to explore trails that traverse mountain valleys, caldén and jarilla forests. Find flowers like mutisias and morning glories. Look at the sky to see the flight of spot-winged falconets. Reach the shore of a huge white lagoon surrounded by ancient volcanic cones. Find canyons with fossil remains and cave paintings. Amaze yourself at the sight of a giant stone that rises like a totem pole in the middle of the solitary landscape.
Discover the beauty of the steppe by walking along trails of low and medium difficulty. Some, more complex, require the company of a qualified guide. If you want to do more than one trail and get away for a few days, there are several authorized camping areas.
Where: At Lihué Calel and Laguna Blanca National Parks, and at Meseta de Somuncurá and Piedra Parada (La Pampa) Protected Nature Areas.
When: All year round
