Siete Lagos (RN 40)
Neuquén
A dreamy route among mountains, green and blue lakes, crystal rivers and magical forests. This route winds through two national parks: the Nahuel Huapí National Park, the biggest in Patagonia, and the first national park in the country; and the Lanín National Park, with ancient monkey puzzle trees and over 20 lakes. While travelling, you'll see landscapes that seem taken from a postal card.
This route starts at Villa La Angostura. From this point onwards, the legendary Route 40 becomes winding and balconies start appearing offering viewpoints to stop by and admire the Correntoso, Espejo, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, Machónico and Lácar Lakes. There are 7 lakes, but you can explore more than 10 if you divert a few kilometres from the route. The trip ends in San Martín de los Andes, but the charming landscape continues far beyond. This scenic route will give you the best memories of the south in just a few kilometres.
