Quebrada de las Conchas (RN 68)
Salta
In the province of Salta, 12 km from Cafayate and taking the RN 68, you will start the trip through the Quebrada de las Conchas Nature Reserve. There you will see that the landscape takes on another dimension: it turns burgundy, violet, orange, and natural formations carved by the wind and water appear, such as the toad, the castles, the windows, the friar, the obelisk and the plaster.
But this route, this land, you have to feel it with your whole body. Along the way you will find trails that will bring you closer to the magic of the hills. Or to panoramic views of the ravine and the Conchas River at the Tres Cruces viewpoint. Or to unique geological formations in the world such as the Garganta del Diablo, with towering reddish rock walls, and the Amphitheater, with natural acoustics that will sweeten your ears when you hear a singer playing his quena or his guitar.
The last stop (or the first, depending on whether you take this route from the north) is Alemanía, a town of less than 100 inhabitants with a picturesque train station, crafts and an interpretation center.
